This past week, I met up with my old officemates and I must say, one thing I miss about working in retail (more than the free clothes) is wearing power outfits. Since, I left, my style changed because of my current job and just a whole lot of changes in my environment as well. There are just times when I miss the style side of the corporate world or just the plain and different attitude you have when you power dress.

I don’t know but masculine outfits really look sophisticated and sexy on a woman. Sorry for the bias, men. Haha. But don’t you just agree? It brings out an aggressive and confident attitude that says, “I mean business.” And sometimes, or well, more often than not, in the corporate world, you kind of need that confidence to be able to step up and be noticed.

I really want that white, tailored suit that they wear on the red carpet. It’s just hard to find one and well, wear it here on a normal day. I guess this is just a step closer in quenching that frustration of mine.

I had a great time seeing the world that I left behind. I felt no regrets at all. I just miss the people I used to work with. They’ve evolve into my friends. Well, not all. But you know what I mean. I hope we get to hang-out and just catch up more often.

SFF turns 1 today!

It’s been a year and as I look back at all the outfits I have worn the past year, I saw the slow changes in my outfits. It took awhile to decide on what specific outfit it is that I’d be featuring here for this specific occasion. At last, this outfit won me over. Since, I’m always told that I do dress up in costume-inspired outfits, then, why not do a costume-inspired one, from one of my favorite countries-Japan.

This Modern Kimono has been in my closet since November of last year. It was given to me by my brother as his pasalubong when he visited Japan. He knows how much I wanna see Japan and he knows how much fond I am of Kimonos. According to the store owner (from where he bought this), this is what women use there as blazers for work. It’s considered as something formal too.

Anyway, a lot has happened in a year! I wonder what will happen next or how I’ll look like next month, next year.

On an entirely different thought, I remember one thing that Rachel Zoe said on her show, “Fashion is a great way to express yourself without saying a word”. That being said, one of the principles I uphold in styling myself is, it doesn’t matter how much your outfit costs or if it has a name slapped on it, what matters is how you wear it and how it makes you feel.

Expensive does not equate style. Style is an extension of your personality and a reflection of your present state.

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Days toward Valentine’s, a lot of things just started to happen to me. I have been telling my friends regarding recent events and it was just weirdly coincidental. They kept telling (as a joke), “Valentine’s kasi (It’s because of Valentine’s)”. We just laugh about it. But really, there’s something weird about this year’s Valentine’s Day. At least for me and a friend of mine.

It is the date season isn’t? And it’s that day when people’s romantic status are emphasized, celebrated or whatever it is that people do during Valentine’s.

Yes, that is a black heart. Coincidentally, the only origami that I know is a heart. This is made from the label of a liquor. It’s got a lot of folds and layers. It’s has different imprints that are not easily seen. It’s compact and seemingly small. It reveals different things when it unfolds itself. When unfolded, it is just a rectangle, a very simple rectangle.

This is a cute date dress huh? I got this from a friend. She wore this during their (her and her hubby) first year anniversary. With a little sewing here and there, it fit me! I like it. It’s sultry and sophisticated at the same time. Just enough for a dinner date.

Happy Valentine’s Day, my loves! Let’s all celebrate! Taken or not, dating or not, recently taken or recently single, whatever that status is, celebrate! Valentine’s Day is not exclusive for couples. Haha! 😛 Everyone’s got a heart, right?

I am sorry for the long absence, I had ugly allergies and well, I’ve been doing a lot of things lately. Anyway, recent events made me realize things and really, really made me feel so happy!

It’s really those little things that make my heart flutter. This blog was created with no intention of anything. Friends just pushed me to show the outfits that I create or wear. I am no high-fashion-girl nor am I an expert at fashion. There are still a lot of things that I haven’t worn or even know. I just wear things as they come to my imagination. This blog’s first year anniversary is about to come! I cannot believe it. And I thank those who read it and wait for an entry.

Another new addition to my wardrobe is this skirt, given to me by a good friend as a gift.

Anywho, back to my musings. Fashion is all about influence and your own creativity. Although greatly influenced by the environment you walk on, the people you go out with and what’s available out there, your fashion is YOU and no one else’s.

For me, fashion is something personal and it reveals something about the person wearing it. So, when people compliment or as ask about the clothes that I wear, it really, really makes my heart flutter.

It feels good that people appreciate what I wear and moreover, I am overwhelmed by those that approach me telling me about references towards this blog and well, by the number of people that visit it. It’s not much but still, thank you so much.

In Filipino, the term is, “nakakataba ng puso”. I don’t really know the exact English translation of that. Sometimes, translating something loses its core meaning.

I look forward to my first year! Hope you do too!

Wow! What a mushy post!

So, my new wardrobe hunting begins…

One boring, Saturday afternoon, a friend invited me to go to Shang and shop. I told her that I would accompany her but I wouldn’t buy anything because I already splurged on a lot of things the previous week.

But what can I say? Girl Friend + Mall = Shopping. Nobody can really mess with that equation.

And… Can you actually resist these boots??

Yeah? Even if it was on sale??? Nah. Didn’t think so. Before my lifestyle changed, I would probably silently admire this and not buy it. But damn, now? I do wear it because I can and I have places to wear it to!

This is my new favorite pair of shoes. It’s just … love! Haha! This is definitely something unexpected for me! Yay! Thank you Els for pushing me to buy this! I wanna go back for the “almonide” one!!

Everything is just starting to sink in– the thing about changing your lifestyle and spinning it to the opposite direction is that, well, you gotta change almost everything. I realized that ever since I was out of the 8-5 job, I re-arranged the furniture at my pad and now, half of my clothes, I can’t seem to wear anymore. It’s not the size, nor the “fad” factor. It’s just that, it’s not applicable anymore. I find myself looking inside my closet and it seems empty because (almost) nothing in it is something I want to wear, anymore. Or I find myself pairing things that I would not even dare wear to work, because it’s too laid back.

I must say, it took awhile for me to see this or rather, accept it? Haha. I always have a hard time letting go of my clothes, my shoes and my bags. I guess the classic ones I keep, just in case.

It hit me recently, when after a long, long time, I found myself splurging for new and different clothes and the whole shebang. I need to save up and begin the year with new stuff that apply more to me or to my current lifestyle. The good thing, it’s an excuse to shop. Hahaha! The down side, well, we all know the down side.

By the way, I wore this 2-3 weeks ago, when 2 friends invited me to judge a play. Haha. I found the experience really nice. Being with students really, really, makes you feel like you’re one (again). It was my first time to judge a school play or any play for that matter. 😛

Oh, and I really love this top! I like the twist detail!

Happy New Year! To a great year and to new beginnings! Cheers!

This photo was taken by Elyoo last month. It was a random favor for a friend. Anyway, I really like the photo, hence, the post. Nothing much to say here, just that maybe, I realized that I was actually conscious that someone was taking my photo in front of strangers.

Oh, this was also the day that we discovered that a hamburger food chain’s burger was not made from 100% beef. Hahhahahahaha!
